Newton Resident, Joyce Bohnen, to Receive Day School Honor
Please join the MetroWest Jewish Day School community on Sunday, December 2 at 5:00 pm at Gann Academy to celebrate Joyce Bohnen’s accomplishments. Joyce, a founding Admissions Director of MetroWest Jewish Day School, is being honored for her pivotal role as and for her continuing service to our school as an active volunteer and devoted advocate. When MWJDS was just a vision, Joyce enabled parents to see their kids participating in that vision. As the school became a reality, Joyce’s enthusiasm for a new Jewish day school in Metrowest inspired parents to see the unique benefits of an MWJDS education. She has been involved in Jewish education for most of her adult life. A self-described day school “junky,” she was a teacher at the Maimonides School, headed the recruitment committee at the Solomon Schechter Day School when her daughters were students there, and was on the committee to find the first head of school at the New Jewish High School of Greater Boston, now known as Gann Academy. She also worked as Director of Recruitment for Camp Ramah in New England. We also celebrate Joyce’s love of Jewish music and singing. She was a long-time member and soloist with Zamir Chorale of Boston and served as Chair of its board of directors. She has served as a cantor for the High Holidays for the past 30 years, including the past 16 years at Temple Emanuel in Newton where she, with her husband Michael, and her family are members. At Temple Emanuel she has also served as Co-president of the Sisterhood, Chair of the Rabbinic Search Committee, a trustee and a member of the Music Committee. Currently, Joyce serves on the board of Gateways: Access to Jewish Education. For event information, please email email@example.com or call 508-620-5554. MetroWest Jewish Day School very successfully educates children in grades K-8. Visit www.mwjds.org for further information.
