Education Center is the home of the superintendent of schools as well as other administrative staff that handle Newton's 21 public schools and public preschool program. Located just down the street from Newton North High School in the village of Newtonville, Education Center also holds the school committee office and is the location where the committee meets twice a month. The Newton Public Schools Early Childhood program operates several classrooms in this building as well.

Education Center is a half-mile walk from the Newtonville MBTA Commuter Rail station (purple line, Framingham/Worcester line). The #59 and #556 MBTA buses also stop nearby at the intersection of Walnut Street and Watertown Street.
