9-11 Commemoration, Art Reception, Film Screening

A few things you need to know for Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Newton.

1. Newton's 9-11 commemoration will be held at 6 p.m. at the city's memorial in front of the Newton Fire Headquarters in Newton Centre. Find out more here.

2. The Newton Art Association’s will hold a reception tonight at 7 p.m. for its 64th Annual Awards Show. The exhibit features original works by more than 75 Association members including paintings, photographs, prints and sculpture. For more information visit www.newtonartassociation.com.

3. The new film, "Big Buildings, Big Machines, Big Stories," produced by Newton filmmakers Ellie Goldberg and Laura McCarthy Johnson, will screen at the Waterworks Museum today at 7 p.m. The Museum is located at 2450 Beacon St., across from the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. Tickets are $5.
