Candidates Night, Meeting on Austin Street Parking Lot, Hebrew Crash Course

A few things you need to know for Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Newton.

1. A candidates night will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the Emerson Community Center, 51 Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls. Confirmed attendees include candidates for Ward 5 Aldermen at Large and Ward 2 School Committee. 

2. The Alderman from Ward 2 in collaboration with the Department of Planning and Development will cohost a community meeting regarding possible future development on the Austin Street Municipal Parking Lot in Newtonville tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Newton North Cafeteria. See details here.

3. Beth Menachem Chabad is offering a Hebrew Reading Crash Course to all members of the Jewish community tonight at 7:30 p.m. The course is designed to teach those with little or no basic knowledge of the Hebrew language how to read Hebrew in five easy lessons. See more here.

4. Give blood at the Newton Free Library today from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
