Egypt Activity, Author Talk, Waban Library Update and More

A few things you need to know in Newton for Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013.

1. Ages 8 and up are invited to the Newton Free Library at 7 p.m. for an ancient Egypt themed event. Trivia, mummy cupcakes and more. Pick up your free ticket at the children's desk 30 minutes before the event.

2. Authors Steve Yarbrough (The Realm of Last Chances) and Ursula DeYoung, (Shorecliff) will be at Newtonville Books Thursday at 7 p.m.

3. The Waban Community Library will be open Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. but will be closed after that until Sept. 4.

4. ICYMI. "Gear" up for the Bike Newton tour through all 13 villages.

5. Joyeux anniversaire, Julia Child! In honor of the famous chef's birthday, enjoy something tasty and French.
