What You Should Know About Tuesday's Newton Election

The City Election is Tuesday, with races for mayor, aldermen, aldermen-at-large and School Committee.

Polling Times

The polls are open for the Newton City Election from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Races

Mayor: Incumbent Setti Warrant and Alderman Ted Hess-Mahan

Aldermen (Voted on by only residents of the ward)

Ward 1: Alison Leary and Allan Ciccone Sr.

Ward 2 Alderman: Eve M. Tapper and Emily Norton

Aldermen-At-Large (voted on by the whole city, vote for two)

Ward 5: Incumbents Brian Yates and Deborah Crossley are being challenged by Christopher Steele

School Committee (voted on by the whole city)

Ward 2: Andrea R. Steenstrup and Margaret L. Albright

Waban Area Council

There are 13 candidates for 9 positions on the new Waban Area Council. The voting for the candidates will take place at Zervas (even if the Waban voter votes at Hyde) and all voters for this Council election must ask for the Area Council Ballot which is separate from the Municipal Ballot.
