Cherrytree Group President and Marathon Participant Warren Kirshenbaum to Speak (April 28) at "Eyes on Boston," Benefits OneFund Boston

Cherrytree Group President Warren Kirshenbaum will speak at “Eyes on Boston – A Night to Remember and Celebrate Boston Strong,” being held at The Whiskey Priest (150 Northern Avenue, Boston) on Monday, April 28, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.  (Kirshenbaum is scheduled to speak around 8 p.m.)  The event is being held by Eyetechs, Inc.

Kirshenbaum was asked to speak as an individual who ran in last year’s Marathon, and will run again in this year’s Marathon.  He will talk about his reasons for running, both last year and this year.  Last year was his first marathon, which he ran as part of the Project Hope team.

Kirshenbaum had just finished the race when the blasts went off, but just days later he wrote that he would be back running the Marathon this year.  “I have no choice but to think of the glorious run, the beautiful part of the day, and the realization that I raised money for Project Hope, a wonderful charity where I witnessed the fruits of that fundraising effort when I saw people move up and out of homelessness.”

Kirshenbaum added, “I recognize that I experienced a transforming life event that dug deep into my inner being to find the strength to run 26.2 miles and then to make some sense of the unfathomable reality that was playing out before us.  I will take these positive feelings and experiences into the world to share them with the people I love, and to pay it forward, and I will never stop believing.”

Project Hope is a multi-service agency at the forefront of efforts in Boston to move families beyond homelessness and poverty.  They provide low-income women with children access to education, jobs, housing and emergency services, and foster personal transformation and work with the community and state for broader systems change.  Through his participation on Project Hope’s Boston Marathon Team last year, Kirshenbaum raised over $4,800 for the organization.  Currently, he has raised just over $4,000, or 81% of his $5,000 goal.  (The Project Hope team has raised $231,124 to date, 92% of its goal.)

A $20 donation is recommended (at the door) for the “Eyes on Boston” event; all proceeds will benefit OneFund Boston.  The event will also feature a silent auction and live music by “The Common End.”  For more information about “Eyes on Boston,” call (617) 429-6155, email contact@eyetechs.com or visit www.eyetechs.com.
