Rockland Trust Charitable Foundations Awards $2,500 Scholarship to Two Newton Graduates

The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation today announced that Alexa DeMasse, a graduate of Learning Prep School Newton and Groton resident, and Mikey Jimenez, a graduate of Newton North High School and Boston resident, are recipients of the 2013 Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation Scholarship.  DeMasse and Jimenez are two of 10 students from the Foundation’s service area who received a $2,500 scholarship.  The Foundation chose recipients based on financial need, academic achievement, character, and community involvement.   DeMasse will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the fall, while Jimenez will attend the University of New Hampshire.

Ralph Valente, Rockland Trust Senior Vice President and Director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation; Arthur Viana, First Vice President and Director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation; and Kerri Pigott, First Vice President and Metro West District Manager presented the scholarships to the winners during a reception in the bank’s Franklin office on June 19, 2013.

“Rockland Trust is pleased to support academic excellence and community involvement within young people in our service area,” said Valente.  “Alexa and Mikey are both ambitious, bright young people, and we are confident these scholarships will help them succeed educationally and personally.”
