ROOM TO DREAM ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBER

The Room to Dream Foundation, a Boston-based non-profit organization dedicated to creating healing environments for children and adolescents suffering from chronic illnesses, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Goucher of 98.5 The Sports Hub to their Board of Directors.

Dave Goucher has been the radio play-by-play announcer for the Boston Bruins since 2000, covering the past five seasons on The Sports Hub, and is also a regular contributor to Bruins coverage on Comcast Sportsnet New England. With strong ties to Boston, the Pawtucket, RI native began his career at Boston University, where he graduated in 1993, calling two seasons of Terrier hockey, including the Beanpot, Hockey East Championship, and NCAA Frozen Four. Dave brings over 20 years of experience working with the people of Boston to The Room to Dream Foundation, having covered, in addition to the Bruins, the Red Sox, Providence Bruins, and the Boston Marathon in the past.

In response to his appointment Dave states, “I have worked in Boston for many years and I am still in awe of the incredible community here. It is foundations like Room to Dream that make that sense of community possible, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it.”

The Room to Dream Foundation focuses its services on children and families living in low- and moderate-income urban and suburban areas. The foundation raises funds to purchase furnishings and supplies tailored to the specific needs of the child and family. It then relies on the caring generosity of professional and amateur artists, interior designers, builders and others who volunteer their time to transform living spaces to give children and adolescents room to dream of a healthier future. As they recuperate and recover, the hope is that their renovated spaces will improve their quality of life, promote strength, imagination, self-worth, and aid in their recovery processes.  The foundation typically undertakes six to eight projects a year relying entirely on donations and volunteer work.
