Three Newton Residents Graduate From The Rivers School

WESTON, MA—Three Newton residents were among 90 students to graduate from The Rivers School in Weston on Friday, June 13.

A high honor roll student, Miranda E. Bachman was elected to the Cum Laude Society on Prize Day. She demonstrated great involvement on the Rivers campus as well as an understanding of issues in the wider community. Her tenacity and genuine concern for others earned her the Presidential Award for Community Service, for projects as diverse as sea turtle conservation awareness and assistance in a local nursing home. In addition to her work on the Service Council, Miranda has shown strong artistic ability, winning both a Gold Key and honorable mention from the Boston Globe Scholastic Arts competition for her ceramic work, as well as a 2013 SISAL honorable mention. Miranda served as a track and field manager and a Red Key tour guide, showing great school spirit. The daughter of William Bachman and and Megan Gerber, she will attend Johns Hopkins University in the fall.

A high honor roll student who was elected to the Cum Laude Society on Prize Day, Ethan J. Puritz was an unassuming compassionate student who was regarded for his steel-trap mind. He was great role model for younger students both in the classroom and on the golf course, where he served as captain during his senior year. A lover of all things sports, Ethan volunteered his time outside of school to coach in a local youth basketball league. The son of Adam Puritz and Robin Neiterman, he will attend Northwestern University in the fall.
