5 Things: Lost Cat, Electronics Recycling, Holocaust Documentary

A few things you need to know for Friday, July 19, 2013.

1. One... more... day... (or so). Looks like the heat is expected to break Saturday. Just get through another hot one Friday and look forward to some relief over the weekend.

2. Thursday afternoon a reader posted that her cat, Charlie, had escaped from the house. We haven't heard whether Charlie made it home yet, but just in case he's still out there, we wanted to bring this to your attention.

3. How about a little local baseball in your life? The Newton Royals, of the 18 and up Royal Rooters Baseball League, will take on the Brewers at Brandeis University Friday at 8 p.m.

4. It's Electronics Drop-Off weekend at the Rumford Avenue Recycling Depot. Stop by from 8 a.m. to noon Friday or Saturday and recycle your unwanted electronics. There is a $12 fee for television and computer monitor recycling.

5. Looking ahead. Newton resident and Holocaust survivor Israel Arbeiter will be at the Newton Free Library Saturday at 2 p.m. for a screening of a documentary about his teenage years in Nazi-occupied eastern Europe and his return to Poland from the U.S. 70 years later. Following the screening of " A Promise to My Father," Arbeiter will talk with audience members during a Q&A session.
