5 Things You Need to Know: July 2

Farmers' market, library art and much more.

1. The Newton Summer Farmers' Markets launch this week. Tuesday, the market at New Cold Spring Park will be open from 1:30 p.m.-6 p.m.

2. We're hearing that some folks aren't receiving their newsletters following the site transition last week. If you haven't received your newsletter lately, please just sign up again (sign out of the site and you'll see a "Newsletters" link at the top of the homepage). Then, if you still don't get them, let me know.

3. Gath Memorial Pool will close at 5 p.m. today to the general public in order to host a swim meet.

4. When the days get oppressively hot, you can seek refuge in the Newton Free Library. While you're there, browse the July art exhibits, which include pieces from Newton South High School as well as "Cutting it Both Ways" by Dena Bach and "Light Beings" by Louis H. Pingitore.

5. The Waban Library Center is open this week on Tuesday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. It will reopen next Tuesday, July 9 and is promising new books on its Facebook page.
