5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 16

Cultural Council grand opening, Summer Farmers' Market, School Committee gathering and more.

1. The Newton Cultural Center will host a grand opening celebration in honor of its move to Newton City Hall Tuesday from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. The festivities will include a free concert for kids and families by Wayne Potash as well as refreshments and activities.

2. It's Dinner on the Farm night at the Newton Community Farm. This is a ticketed event, but if you are attending, Patch would love to see your photos. Upload them directly to our boards submit a blog post for the occasion.

3. The Newton Summer Farmers' Market takes place Tuesday at New Cold Springs Park from 1:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Mayor Setti Warren will stop by at 1:30 to kick-off the season.

4. The Newton School Committee will hold a special meeting Tuesday morning at 8:30 in the Newton North High School cafeteria. The agenda focuses primarily on a discussion of additional revenue and the superintendent's evaluation.

5. There's a family singalong at the Newton Free Library Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The children's librarians will lead participants in songs and movement.
