1. Mayor's New Year's Open House at City Hall.
Mayor Setti Warren will host the annual open house and New Year's celebration at City Hall this Monday, Dec. 31 from 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. The afternoon will feature entertainment for the whole family, including music, dance, and a puppet show. 2. City offices closed Tuesday.
Newton City Hall, the Newton Free Library, the Newton Senior Center and post offices will all close on Tuesday, Jan. 1 for New Year's Day. In addition, the Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will not run today at the Hyde Center.
3. School back in session on Wednesday.
Newton Public School students will head back to school on Wednesday, Jan. 2 after their nine-day December break.
4. Trash delayed.
Due to the New Year's Day holiday, trash and recycling pick-up will be delayed by one day starting with Tuesday collection days.
5. Angier meeting moved.
Initially, the Angier School Building Committee and the Design Review Committee were scheduled to hold a public input session on the new Angier school design this Thursday, Jan. 3. However, that meeting has been moved to Thursday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Newton North High School library. The Jan. 10 public input session take place during a joint meeting between the Angier School Building Committee, Design Review Committee, Board of Aldermen and Newton School Committee.
According to an update from the Angier School Building Committee posted on the city's website, the Jan. 10 meeting will allow the design team to make a presentation to both the public as well as the Board of Aldermen and School Committee on the same night, and for the elected officials to hear the public input.
