Five Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 13

A free concert, a jewelry class and a town hall meeting with Mayor Warren.

1. Town hall meeting with the mayor. Mayor Setti Warren will hold a town hall meeting tonight to discuss and answer questions about his $11.4 million override proposal. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and will be held at Angier Elementary.

2. Time is running out...To donate to the annual Newton Holiday Gift Drive. Drop off a new, unwrapped gift (newborn to age 10) or a gift card to Newton's Village Bank branches. The drive ends tomorrow, so get your donations in!

3. Nights Out at the New Art Center. The New Art Center will host a mosaic jewelry "Night Out @ New Art" tonight from 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Participants can create one-of-a-kind jewelry to wear themselves or give as a holiday gift. Fee for the class is $40.

4. Shir Madness. The musical group Shir Madness will perform "a broad array of Klezmer, Yiddish show tunes and hits from the Borscht Belt" tonight at the Newton Free Library. The free concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

5. Go Tigers! The Newton North boys' varsity ice hockey team will face Braintree in a home match tonight at 7 p.m. The game will take place at the Fessenden School rink in West Newton.
