Five Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 20

An area council meeting, a Customer Connection Group at Whole Foods and a special farm share opportunity.

1. #Cards4Nathan. Hundreds of police officers from across New England, including two from the Newton Police Dept., traveled to Virginia yesterday to deliver cards to a young boy with cancer. They'll be delivering the cards today. You can follow our live Twitter and Facebook stream of the events here and join the conversation by Tweeting the hashtag #Cards4Nathan.

2. Newton Upper Falls Area Council. The Upper Falls Area Council will hold its December meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Emerson Community Center.

3. Customer Connection Group. Whole Foods wants to hear what you have to say. The Whole Foods on Walnut Street will hold its monthly Customer Connection Group tonight at 7 p.m. E-mail ava.fantasia@wholefoods.com to participate in one of these monthly events. Participants will receive a $25 Whole Foods Market gift card.

4. Special food pantry hours. The Centre Street Food Pantry (at Trinity Episcopal Church) will have special hours this holiday season. 

5. Newton Community Farm special winter share. The NCF has a one-time special edition winter farm share available for 30 people. The enrollment deadline for the share is TODAY so sign up online ASAP if you're interested.
