Five Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 28

A basketball game with cross-town rivals, "APP"-etizers at the library and info on yearbook sales.

1. Garden City classic. As they do each December break, the Newton North and Newton South basketball teams are facing off this week. Tonight, the girls' teams will go head-to-head at Newton South starting at 6:45 p.m. and the boys' teams will face off at 7 p.m. at Newton North.

2. "APP"-etizers at the library. Teens are welcome to drop into the second floor teen library area at the Newton Free Library today to learn about new cooking apps, test them out on the library's iPad and eat snacks. The program starts at 4 p.m.

3. Order your NSHS yearbook. The earlier you order, the cheaper the price. Order before Jan. 15 and pay $92. Books ordered between Jan. 15 and Feb. 28 are $100. Newton North yearbooks are $95 and more information on ordering is available online
