Five Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 29

A fun, classical music concert at the library, some changes to MBTA bus schedules and a snow storm.

1. Beethoven's Wig. You and your kids can have fun with classical music today at the Newton Free Library with a concert and event featuring Beethoven's Wig. “Co-writer” Richard Perlmutter has added lyrics to Beethoven and other classical artists to create songs that are "perfect blend of high brow and hijinks, lunacy and learning." The free event starts at 1 p.m. in the Druker Auditorium. 

2. Some changes to MBTA bus routes. Starting today, bus schedules will change for a number of MBTA bus routes. Check out the updated schedules for more information on what routes will be affected.

3. Make your reservations! The clock is ticking down to New Year's Eve. If you're looking to enjoy one of the many special events here in Newton, make sure you check out our list of special New Year's Eve dinners and parties -- and book your reservations ASAP!

4. How much snow? The Newton area is expected to get some snow this evening, with 3-6 inches predicted to fall tonight into tomorrow morning, according to the National Weather Service. The snow will start this afternoon and should taper off by Sunday morning.
