Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 1

Welcome, 2013!

1. New Year's Day. All city offices and buildings will be closed today for the holiday. 

2. Trash/recycling delayed. Due to the New Year's holiday, trash/recycling pick-up in Newton will be delayed by one day (starting today).

3. No farmers' market. The Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will not open today at the Hyde Center. Stop in next week between 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.!

4. School back in session tomorrow. After the nine-day break, Newton Public Schools will be back in session starting tomorrow morning. 

5. New classes at Newton Community Farm. The farm has posted its winter class offerings, including beer brewing, growing fruit trees, urban gardening and more. Classes are held in late January, early February and March.
