If you have any household syringes or needles in need of disposal, Saturday is the day to dispose of them.
The city's Health & Human Services Department and Environmental Affairs will hold a household sharps disposal day this Sat., May 21 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Rumford Avenue recycling depot.
Newton residents can bring down syringes, needles and lancets in puncture-proof containers such as red medical waste containers or detergent bottles. The city asks the containers be nearly full, according to a flyer on the city's website.
The collection will not accept loose sharps, prescription medication, pills or other medical waste.
This drop-off is open to Newton residents only and proof of residency will be required to dispose of any sharps. Businesses are not allowed.
