Informational Meeting on Coyotes to be Held in Newton

The city will host the meeting Wednesday at Newton Police Headquarters.

, the city will host an informational meeting tomorrow night on the coyote population in Newton. 

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at in West Newton.

According to a press release issued by the city Tuesday afternoon, Newton officials are "taking steps to ensure residents have as much information as possible to protect themselves and their family pets."

Last week, signs were spotted in the West Newton neighborhood warning of coyotes and foxes preying on pets. The posters appeared to be put up by nearby residents.

The meeting will include officers from Newton Animal Control as well as a representative from the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game.
