Lawsuit Filed Against Riverside Project by Group of Neighbors

Group wants to overturn approval of the project by Newton officials.

The recently approved $350 million Riverside project faces a roadblock from a suit filed by residents living near the Riverside T Station.

The suit filed in state Land Court calls for an annulment of the special permit and sit plan approved by the Newton Aldermen last month, calling the public hearing project "fatally flawed," according to a report in the Boston Globe

The neighbors don't seek to stop the project all together, but want it done right, the group's attorney Brian C. Levey told the Globe.

Alderman Ted Hess-Mahan, the chairman of the board’s Land Use Committee, told the Globe the project was thoroughly vetted and noted the project was unanimously approved.
