Newton Ranked No. 4 in CNN Money's 'Best Places to Live'

Newton was fourth in a list of 100 of America's best small cities.

The city of Newton is often acknowledged for its outstanding education and public safety -- now, it has another accolade to add to the list. 

CNN Money recently ranked Newton fourth on its "best places to live" list. The list included a collection of America's 100 "best small cities." 

In its write-up, CNN Money noted Newton's high standard for education (calling the residents "obsessed"), and referenced the  as well as the partnership between MIT and the .

The CNN Money article also mentioned the city's boutique shopping in Newton Centre and swimming at . 

According to CNN Money, the average listing price for a home in Newton was $850,117 in July 2012. Despite the high home prices, though, the article says local families believe "the perks are well worth it."

Newton was out-ranked by just three other small cities: Eden Prairie, Minnesota (#3), McKinney, Texas (#2) and Carmel, Indiana (#1).

Other Massachusetts municipalities ranked on the list include Brookline (#31), Framingham (#38) and Weymouth Town (#87).
