Newton to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr. with Annual Community Gathering

The event will be held at Temple Beth Avodah in Newton.

The city of Newton will hold its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. community celebration on Monday, Jan. 21 at Temple Beth Avodah. 

The community gathering will include musical performances, remarks from Mayor Setti Warren and Superintendent David Fleishman as well as readings by interfaith clergy from across the city.

Newton Public School students will also read essays inspired by the life and legacy of Dr. King.

Monday's event starts at 9:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Newton Food Pantry
