The Garden City honored its veterans of the past and present in its annual Memorial Day Parade held Sunday, May 22.

Question: Where can you find steel drums, veterans, bag pipes, tanks and local politicians?

Answer: Newton's annual Memorial Day Parade.

Spectators lined the streets on Sunday to watch Newton's Memorial Day Parade, which began at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish and ended at Coletti-Magni Park in Nonantum. Afterward, community members gathered at Pellegrini Park for the first ever post-parade cookout.
