Star-Studded Benefit in Newton to Benefit Man with Gehrig's Disease

See Jimmy Tingle and Robert Pinsky, and get the chance to meet Dan Shaughnessy and see Josh Groban in concert.

Newton will be the place to be to see former Poet Laureate Robert Pinksy, Comedian Jimmy Tingle and more for a benefit concert and silent auction for a local man suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Those in attendance on Oct. 20 will be entertained by the renowned Klezmer Conservatory Band, and Gospel Singer Janice Octavia Allen.

The silent auction at the event for the Matchan-Israel family will include the chance to bid on lunch with Globe Sports Columnist Dan Shaughnessy, tickets to attend a Josh Groban/Bonnie Raitt concert with The Globe’s rock critic, dinner for four from Globe food critic Sheryl Julian, and for fans of The Office a Dunder Mifflin Paper Co. jacket donated by BJ Novack’s dad.
