A Sweet Celebrity Encounter for 2 Newton Girls with Diabetes

Two Newton residents got the chance of a lifetime Monday when the Jonas Brothers came to Boston.

When the Jonas Brothers come to Boston, it seems like most teenage girls know about it.

But for a couple of Newton residents, not only did they know about the famous trio's visit, they also got to meet the brothers themselves thanks to one brother's desire to reach out to kids who, like him, live with Type 1 diabetes.

According to a press release, Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 13 years old and now takes a particular interest in his young fans also coping with the disease.

The Jonas Brothers were in Boston recently for a July 22 concert at the Bank of America Pavilion. During their stay here, local radio station Kiss 108 hosted a special acoustic set at the W Hotel in Boston during which the Jonas Brothers performed for a select group of the station's listeners as well as five Joslin Diabetes Center patients.

Among those five patients were Newton residents Caroline Fitzgerald, 13, and Anna Francis, 9, both patients at Joslin.
