Hollywood Star Filming in Town Has Newton Ties

Jason Segel, who is in Newton filming "Sex Tape" with Cameron Diaz, is no stranger to the city.

Segel's family has run Mr. Sid's Men's Clothier in Newton Centre for generations. He gave a shout out to the store when he received his Hasty Pudding honor at Harvard University in 2012.

Mr. Sid's is not far from where Segel and Diaz have been shooting the movie about a couple who realizes that they have lost a sex tape that they made the night before.

The crews were shooting in Newton Tuesday, and will continue Wednesday and Thursday, said Aaron Goldman, the mayor's citizens assistant officer. They may return Monday too.

Patch reader Marshall Blythe (@MacBlythe) said he saw crews shooting in Newton Centre, "just northwest of city hall/comm ave."

Others have spotted film trucks along Commonwealth Avenue.
