Why Were Film Crews in Newton Last Weekend?

Over the weekend, Newton Patch received a number of messages on Twitter asking about film crews and trailers parked in Newton. 

Here's a sampling of what we heard:

Well, Newton Patch took to Twitter to see what we could find out. 

According to tweets from Ryan Cook, a TV/film location manager, filming for the TV drama "Terminales" was set to take place on Temple Street in West Newton on Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8.

Cook's IMDB page indicates that he is the assistant location manager for "Terminales." The page also lists Cook as the assistant location manager for the TV film "The Makeover," which was filmed in Newton a couple of months ago.

The recent "Terminales" filming in Massachusetts is for the drama's pilot episode, according to an October press release issued by the Massachusetts Film Office. It is produced by Lionsgate and Televisa and is based on a Mexican drama also produced by Televisa. 

The show centers on a young woman named April, played by Italia Ricci, and her life after she is diagnosed with a terminal illness. According to the Boston Globe, the main character is a young newspaper reporter in Boston.

The Globe reported last month that the series would be shooting some scenes in Boston, including the Globe's office.

If the series is picked up, it will be part of the ABC Family lineup, the Mass. Film Office said.
