Firefighters Rescue Resident from 2-Alarm Fire on Crafts Street

UPDATE: Two residents went to hospital after the fire on Crafts Street and one Newton Firefighter went to Newton-Wellesley Hospital with a shoulder injury.

Two families - a family of four and a family of two - were burned out of their homes and were assisted by the American Red Cross.

Firefighters from Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, Needham, Weston and Boston helped out on Crafts while the Newton Fire Department battled a three-alarm fire on Nahanton Street.

Newton firefighters are responding to a house fire at 499 Crafts St.

The fire broke put at around 10:30 p.m. and quickly went to 2 alarms, according to the Newton Fire Department. A trapped victim has been rescued from the home, according to the fire department.

Firefighters from Waltham, Watertown and Boston are working to douse the flames.
