Companies Moving to Newton to Avoid High Prices in Boston, Cambridge

More than 70 firms signed deals in the Garden City over the past few months.

As the market for office space heats up in Boston and Cambridge, companies have turned to communities along Rte. 128, including Newton.

A study by NAI Hunneman Commercial Real Estate Services found that tech and life-sciences companies are moving out of Kendall Square and Boston's Innovation District and heading west, according to a story in the Boston Globe.

The largest number of companies - 124- deals signed in Waltham during April, May, and June. Next came Newton and Burlington, which has 71 deals each, according to the story.
