Green Line Driver Suspended; Caught on Camera Allegedly Asleep on the Job

The D line makes a number of stops in Newton.

A Green Line T driver caught on cell phone video allegedly asleep on the job has been suspended.

WBZ-TV reported Wednesday that in the video the driver, who is seated in the second car of a D line trolley and not actually operating the train, could be seen with his head down before entering a tunnel.

In a statement to WBZ, the MBTA said the “situation will be handled swiftly and with the most serious of care.”

The statement also sites an “aggressive fatigue awareness program that is required for all safety-sensitive employees.”

The D line terminates at Riverside Station in Auburndale and makes a number of stops in Newton including at Newton Centre, Waban, Chestnut Hill and others.
