Malls in Newton Adding New Features for Holiday Shoppers

Holiday preparations are on at The Street and The Mall at Chestnut Hill.

Thanksgiving is more than a week away, but the malls in Newton have already started unveiling special features for the holiday shopping season.

On Wednesday, Nov. 20, The Street in Chestnut Hill, will illuminate Luminescence, an awe-inspiring light installation created by the regionally acclaimed artist and sculptor Pandora LaCasse.

The display is comprised of 40,900 LED bulbs and 72 spheres ranging from 20 to 45 inches in diameter. Luminescence will debut at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Afterward from 6:30 p.m to 8 p.m., new designer fashion store Intermix and DavidsTea will host a holiday celebration and tea tasting.

New Stores

The Mall at Chestnut Hill welcomes The Land of Nod Toy Shop, which offers high quality children’s furniture, toys, gifts and more. The Land of Nod guarantees that all of their products and items are meant to handle everything kids throw their way, so they offer an 18-year quality guarantee.

When you take a break from your shopping, you can grab some sweets at the See’s Candies holiday gift center. Treats include peanut brittle, scotchmallow and the famous See’s lollypops.

Special Parking

The Mall at Chestnut Hill will soon debut new parking options, too, including car pool parking and low emitting and fuel efficient vehicle parking.

There will be two carpool and two alternative fuel spaces near the North Entrance (near Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse) and two of each near the South Entrance (near the Cheesecake Factory).
