New Newton Centre Pub is Open for Business

Terry O'Reilly's Pub, formerly Sabra, opened Saturday, Sept. 1.

There's a new Irish pub in town, and it goes by the name Terry O'Reilly's.

After six months of renovations, the former Sabra restaurant in Newton Centre officially opened its doors as Terry O'Reilly's Irish Pub on Saturday, Sept. 1, according to the restaurant's website and Facebook page

Earlier this year, into a cozy, neighborhood hangout.

“This is what Newton needs,” Saroufim told Newton Patch in March. “Langley and Union (streets) have been dark. Now they will be bright.”

Saroufim told Patch he planned for most of the menu to consist of bar food and pub food, with one page of the menu dedicated to old Sabra favorites.

Sabra officially closed its doors on March 6 and, as chronicled through the restaurant's Facebook page photos, underwent a major facelift. The new decor aims to create the feel of a cozy, neighborhood pub.

Terry O'Reilly's also includes two bars, one in the front of the restaurant and another in the dining room, each featuring 11 beers on tap. 

Saroufim also said he hopes to host live music at the new pub. 

Terry O'Reilly's is the second pub to open in Newton this summer and the second new restaurant to hit Union Street in a month. , opened to the public on August 2 and .
