Newton Company Gets Multimillion Dollar Investment

Newton-based Alcresta Inc. pulled in more $10 million for a product that will help people such as cancer patients, premature infants and those with cystic fibrosis who cannot absorb the all the calories from food and drinks.

This second round of funding has brought the company’s investments to a $20 million, according to a story in the Boston Globe. The investors include Third Rock Ventures of Boston and Bessemer Venture Partners, a New York firm with an office in Cambridge.

Co-founders Alexey Margolin and Robert Gallotto are also working on a drug to treat kidney stones and renal disease. That venture is called Allena Pharmaceuticals, also based in Newton.
