Newton Welcomes Newest Bank to the City

New bank already getting involved in the Newton community.

Newton's newest bank, Belmont Savings Bank, opened up in the Shaw's Supermarket in Newtonville last week, and has already gotten involved in the community.

At the ribbon cutting for the new bank branch, Belmont Savings CEO Bob Mahoney and his colleagues presented a $500 donation to the Newton Schools Foundation Executive Director Rick Iacobucci.

Mahoney and Belmont Savings COO Hal Tovin were welcomed to Newton by Ana Gonzalez from Mayor Setti Warren’s office, who presented them with a citation.

Belmont Savings will also sponsor the second annual Newtonville Village Day and Jazz Festival on Sunday, Sept. 29 from noon to 5 p.m. The event is on Walnut Street between Washington Street and Washington Park.

This will be the first event in the city sponsored by the bank. Newton residents can get to know more about the bank and participate in activities sponsored by Belmont Savings including their Cash Cube, which is supporting Newton Schools Foundation.
