Patch Picks: Great Date Night Destinations in Newton

Are you and your honey in a dating slump? Sick of falling asleep next to each other on the couch during a rerun of a show you don't like anyway? Here are our Patch Picks for places to go on a great date.

Take a hike – , in Upper Falls, is a lovely site for a short walk in the woods. There is a trail map right off the easily accessible parking lot, and there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the views of the river and the old mill. Put on your bug spray, stop by and pick up some picnic foods and make an afternoon of it.

Stay in – Who says you actually have to go anywhere to have a great date? After you put the kids to bed or get out of your work uniform, turn your home into the perfect date night location. Light some candles from , prepare an easy and healthy meal from , pop in a romantic DVD and snuggle up to your sweetie. And for goodness sake, stay awake!

Find a date – So what if you haven’t met Mr. or Ms. Right yet? That doesn’t mean you still can’t have a great date- and possibly fix that issue right then and there! FunFunFun.org’s Single’s Club is hosting a “Movie and Dinner” event at the West Newton Cinema and nearby Shing Yee restaurant this Saturday, August 20. Check their website for prices and details.

Take in a concert – hosts an impressive array of guest artists and visiting performers through their Andrew Wolf Benefit Concerts and their lunchtime Con Brio concert series. The ANMS’s faculty also does concerts on a regular basis. Or catch a rising star by attending one of their numerous student recitals. If music be the food of love, play on!

Sit down with your SO and plan out a route, then print up a PDF of your path. Start out your date by having lunch at , enjoy a little history and exercise, then refuel for whatever comes next by stopping for a sweet treat at .
