PHOTOS: New Market Helps Newton Stay Fresh & Local Year-Round

Newton has started its own winter farmers' market, which runs on Tuesdays from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Hyde Community Center in Newton Highlands.

After three decades of a successful summer/fall market, the Newton Parks & Recreation Department launched the city's first winter farmers' market on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.

The new market is held at the Hyde Community Center in Newton Highlands on Tuesdays from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Although the weather was wet and the temperatures were bitter cold, 116 patrons arrived in the first hour the winter market, according to market managers. By 4:30 p.m., roughly 250 came to check out the new market.
