Rox Cafe Welcomes Nearby Business Owners, City Leaders to Reception

Rox Cafe hosted an opening reception on Tuesday in Newton Highlands.

Rox Cafe quietly opened its doors in Newton Highlands at the end of July. On Aug. 20, it made the opening official with a reception for neighboring business owners and city leaders.

Rox Cafe co-owners Paul Louderback and John Fortin welcomed Newton Mayor Setti Warren as well as other guests for passed appetizers and beverages as they celebrated the restaurant's opening on Lincoln Street in the space long-occupied by Baker's Best. Michael Baker, Bakers' Best owner, also attended the event.

Rox Cafe is the third location for Louderback and Fortin, who already operate Rox Diner locations in West Roxbury and Newtonville. Fortin explained to Patch that Rox Cafe is intended to be a similar restaurant, but with an enhanced focus on the dinner and cocktail elements of the menu. In addition, Rox Cafe pays homage to the legacy of Bakers' Best by offering an array of grab-and-go and takeout options via the market side of the establishment.
