Sales Tax Holiday Coming This Weekend

Make your list and check it twice. Massachusetts' tax-free weekend is here.

Get ready to do some shopping. Gov. Deval Patrick last week signed a bill enacting a statewide sales tax holiday Aug. 10 and 11.

If you're looking to do some back to school shopping, this could be your chance to save 6.25 percent in sales tax; however, keep in mind that clothes aren't taxed in Massachusetts, so the holiday won't save you anything there.

What the sales tax holiday could help you save on are things like computers, dorm room decor, standard school supplies and... well, use your imagination.

Just keep in mind that the sales tax holiday does NOT apply to any single item sold for more than $2,500. Also, products such as tobacco, gasoline, meals and utilities will not be sold tax-free.

So the big question: What have you been waiting to buy? Back-to-school needs for your kids... or a little something for yourself.
