Say 'Hello' to Yogurtland, Newton Centre

Newton Centre visitors have a new place to get their frozen yogurt fix.

The colorful storefront has been teasing and tempting passersby for months: "Yogurtland Coming Soon"

"Soon" becomes now on Aug. 7.

Yogurtland will open its doors at 1231 Centre St. at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

When guests venture in for their dose of froyo, they'll find unusual flavors loaded with ingredients specially selected and carefully mixed by "flavorologist," said Barbara Caruso, a spokesperson for the Irvine, Calif.-based company.

There are about 50 flavors in the Yogurtland family of brands, Caruso said, and any given location has 16 of the self-service flavors available. And right now, some of those flavors are, well, looney.

Yogurtland has partnered with Looney Tunes to bring froyo fans an eclectic selection of cartoon-inspired flavors like Bugs Bunny Carrot Cake (it has real bits of carrot in it), Tweety Lemon Cream Cookie (with cookie bits), and Daffy Duck Dark Chocolate Orange.

Late last year, Yogurtland announced plans to open 20 Boston-area locations in 2013.

"We are excited to continue our expansion in the Northeast," said Larry Sidoti, vice president of franchising in a prior press release. "Consumers here have embraced our premium yogurt and friendly service, and our franchise partners appreciate the differences in the Yogurtland business model, including our high sales volumes and our custom flavors."

The Newton Centre location is the first for franchisee business partners Anthony Parrinello and Noah Siegel, who hope to ultimately open a half dozen locations, according to a press release.

“Newton is a vibrant and cohesive community and look forward to being part of its future," said Siegel in the press release. "We know people in Newton are going to love what Yogurtland has to offer."

The Newton Centre location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday until midnight.
