Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt Cafe Coming to Newtonville

YoFresh will open in a couple of months at the former location of Twig florist.

The village of Newtonville will soon be joining the popular frozen yogurt trend with its own self-serve "FroYo" shop.

YoFresh, a self-serve frozen yogurt "cafe", has plans to open up at 14 Austin St., the former location of Twig florist.

According to Chris Gregorys, who runs the franchising for YoFresh, the Newtonville spot is likely to open up sometime in the late summer or early fall. Gregorys could not give an exact opening date.

The YoFresh website explains that the chain offers "all-natural" frozen yogurts with a variety of toppings customers can add to the yogurt. According to the website, YoFresh has plans for 25 locations across nine states, but many of them have yet to open.

A seasonal YoFresh cart has opened in Faneuil Hall Marketplace in downtown Boston, the website says, but Newtonville is the first official storefront in Massachusetts.

This is the second self-serve frozen yogurt spot to open up in Newton in the last year; in Newton Centre .

Soon, Sweet Tart and YoFresh will be joined by one of the pioneers of the frozen yogurt trend -- Pinkberry. W.S. Development announced last month that Pinkberry .
