UNIQLO Coming to Newton

The clothing retailer is set to open at The Mall at Chestnut Hill Aug. 29.

International clothing store chain UNIQLO is opening six stores in the Greater Boston area over the next year, including one in Newton.

The Newton location at The Mall at Chestnut Hill is scheduled to open Aug. 29. Other locations opening this year are a pop-up shop in Faneuil Hall in Boston and locations at the Natick Mall, the Northshore Mall and Legacy Place in Dedham. A flagship store on Newbury Street in Boston as well as a permanent location at Faneuil Hall are also on tap for 2015.

The chain, which currently has 20 stores in the U.S. and more than 1,300 across the world, is expected to open in other US markets, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

The company had global sales of more than $11 billion in 2013.
