Health & Fitness

Are you cutting back on food and still gaining weight? You’re probably making this mistake.

What exactly does “cutting back” on food mean? To some it may be counting calories and sticking to 1200 calories a day. To others it may mean giving up bread, or dessert, or carbs in general. To others still, it may be skimping on breakfast and swapping your afternoon snack for a 100 calorie pack.

Is cutting back working for you? I’m going to bet it’s not. I “cut back” for years and never saw the scale budge. Instead I was miserable, felt deprived, and avoided a social life because I was afraid it would interfere with my diet.

Cutting back was the problem. No lack of carbs is going to make you happier. Tweet it!  Skipping dessert for two months will not make you love your life more. Staying under your super low calorie goal will not make you healthier.

Now I’m not telling you to go eat 5 bars of chocolate, an entire pizza, and maybe a milkshake along the way. What I am saying is cut yourself some slack. Live your life and stop trying to “cut back”.  Give yourself full permission to eat what your body needs to be healthy and see what happens.

Share your thoughts below in the comments section. Tell me what is something you tend to “cut back” on? Do you crave it more when you do?
