Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 13

A book signing, a blues jam and a pasta/pizza party.

1. 'Mission to Pluto' book signing. The New England Mobile Book Fair will host a singing today for the Dr. Dee Dynamo's Mission to Pluto, created and written by Harvard trained surgeon - Dr. Oneeka Williams. The free event will be held from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

3. Need tax help? Today is the last day the AARP Tax-Aide Foundation will have trained volunteers on hand from 9:30 a.m. - noon at the Newton Free Library. All of the volunteers are IRS certified and will be ready to answer questions related to regular (non-business) taxes. Patrons will be assisted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Volunteers will help fill out tax forms for anyone with moderate or low income (less than $40,000 if single or $60,000 if filing a joint return). 

4. Post 440 blues jam. Blues musicians from near and far will gather in the members lounge at the American Legion Post 440 tonight from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Admission is free.

5. Pasta/pizza party. The city will host a pasta/pizza part tonight in preparation for the Heartbreak Hill road Rice on Sun., April 14. The party kicks off at 5:30 p.m. in the War Memorial Auditorium. Family and guests must pay $3 per person.
