Five Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 5

A celebration for Newton at Home, subcommittee meetings and the latest Theatre Ink production.

1. Newton at Home's Fabulous First Year Celebration. Newton at Home will host a free, fun-filled and informative afternoon at the Newton at Home annual meeting today. Enjoy refreshments as you view a special Newton at Home video presentation celebrating the organization's first full year of operation. All are welcome to the event, which will be held at the Scandinavian Living Center from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

2. Blue Christmas service. The United Parish of Auburndale is offering a special service this evening for those who may be having a "not-so-merry-Christmas." The service starts at 6:30 p.m. and all are welcome.

3. Crafternoon. Teens are welcome to get creative this afternoon in the teen area at the Newton Free Library. Librarians and teens will be hanging out working on a craft from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Stop by and check it out!

4. Subcommittee meetings. The Board of Aldermen's Public Facilities, Programs & Service and Public Safety committees will meet tonight in City Hall rooms 209, 222 and 202, respectively. The Public Facilities meeting will start at 7 p.m. and the other two committees will start at 7:45 p.m. The agendas for tonight's meetings are in the .pdf section to the right.

5. "Coastal Disturbances." Theatre Ink's latest production, "Coastal Disturbances" will hit the stage tonight at Newton North High School. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $7.
