Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 18

Many places will be closed for the Presidents Day holiday today, but you can catch a NNHS hockey game in West Newton.

1. Trash/recycling delayed. Due to the Presidents Day holiday, trash/recycling pickup will be delayed by one day this week. 

2. City, state offices closed. Newton City Hall, the Newton Free Library, the Newton Senior Center, post offices and banks will be closed today for Presidents Day.  

3. Circo Comedia. The Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center will Magic, comedy, stunts -- this show has it all. Geared for families with children ages 4+ years. Tickets are $10 for members and $13 for nonmembers.

4. Go Tigers! The Newton North High School girls' and boys' varsity ice hockey teams will both play home games this afternoon at the Fessenden School ice rink. The girls will face Needham at 4 p.m. and the boys will face Lexington at 7 p.m.

5. Taking the MBTA today? The subway, bus schedule and commuter rail will all be running on a Saturday schedule. Check out the MBTA's website for more details on the Presidents Day schedule.
