Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 19

A free concert at the library, a Board of Aldermen meeting and a discussion on the proposed override.

1. Board of Aldermen. The Newton Board of Aldermen will meet tonight at 7:45 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chamber at Newton City Hall. The reports docket for tonight's meeting is included in the .pdf section to the right.

2. Override meeting. Newton at Home will sponsor a public meeting this afternoon for seniors to learn more about the mayor's proposed override package. Former president of the Newton Board of Aldermen, Brooke Lipsitt, will moderate the discussion. The forum starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Scandinavian Living Center.

3. In Good Company concert. In Good Company will give a free Presidents Day-themed concert today at the Newton Free Library. The concert, titled "The White House Chair: Presidential Campaign Songs That Changed America" will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Druker Auditorium.

4. Reminder. Due to the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, curbside trash/recycling pickup will be delayed one day this week. 

5. Indoor Farmers' Market. The Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will be open today from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Hyde Community Center in Newton Highlands.
