Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 4

1. State of the City & Board of Aldermen. Mayor Setti Warren will give his State of the City address tonight following the Board of Aldermen's meeting, which starts at 7:45 p.m. The address and meeting will be held in the Aldermanic Chamber at Newton City Hall. The agenda for tonight's meeting is included in the .pdf section to the right.

2. "Greening Our Community" Series. The Newton Free Library and Green Decade/Newton will host journalist Daniel Grossman tonight to discuss the adventures of a crew of rock hunters trying to learn how high the sea might rise. Grossman has reported from all seven continents, is a contributing editor for National Geographic’s NewsWatch and contributes to PRI’s program "The World." Tonight's event will be held at 7 p.m. in the Druker Auditorium and is free and open to the public. 

3. Farm shares open to Newton residents. Starting today, Newton residents can apply for a 2013 Newton Community Farm CSA. 

4. REELAbilitiesBOSTON presents Mabul. The Boston Jewish Film Festival REELAbilitiesBOSTON will host a screening of Mabul (Flood) tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center. Directed by Guy Nattiv, Mabul was nominated for six Israeli Oscars. Admission is free.

5. Riverside discussion. The Planning and Development Board will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in room 209 at City Hall to discuss proposed zone changes that would pave the way for the proposed mixed-use development at the Riverside MBTA Station on Grove Street.
