Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 8

The indoor farmers' market is back, a free solar seminar and a ribbon cutting in Lower Falls.

1. Ribbon cutting at Lower Falls Community Center. State Rep. Kay Khan (D-Newton), State Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Richard Sullivan and Mayor Setti Warren will host a ribbon cutting today for the eco-friendly repairs and renovations at the Lower Falls Community Center. The celebration will be held at 9 a.m. 

2. Newton Indoor Farmers' Market is back! After two weeks on holiday break, the Newton Indoor Farmers' Market at the Hyde Community Center is back! The market will be open from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.

3. Economic Development Commission. The EDC will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in room 209 at City Hall. The agenda for tonight's meeting is included in the .pdf section to the right.

4. Solar seminar. SolarBridge Technologies will give a free overview and installation training on solar technology today at the Crowne Plaza in Newton. The event runs from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
